LaceyField Louth The Home of Eastfield Infants’ and Nursery Academy & Lacey Gardens Junior Academy

Personal Development

Personal development is a thread that runs throughout all practice at LaceyField. It is evident through learning walks, assemblies and pupil voice that pupils feel a sense of identity as a member of LaceyField and can articulately talk about the bee-haviours for learning and how they help them to succeed. The culture of personal development is characterised with the following;

  • The timetable and curriculum have been carefully designed to meet the needs of the community and ensure every child feels safe, loved and ready to learn.

  • The values (bee-haviours) of the academy are explicitly taught in a cyclical model through use of high quality texts.

  • Various pupil groups such as Happiness Ambassadors and Academy Parliament help to give pupils experiences of real life and responsibility in school

  • Nurture Breakfast at the start of every day for every child

  • A relational/ restorative approach to behaviour

  • SMSC overview which brings together PSHE, academy culture (the bee of the week) and high quality texts for assembly focus

  • Mindfulness and regulation breaks taken when staff feel it is appropriate dependent on their assessment of where the majority of their class fall within the ‘window of tolerance’

  • Bespoke provision for personal development is offered via our dedicated care team.
